Printable Prayer Cards - Free Download!
I read & really liked the book A Praying Life by Paul Miller. I actually posted an excerpt from the book back in Jan '11 titled, Time with Your Father. If you're like me, you never think that you pray enough. There are so many concerns that sometimes it feels quite overwhelming. So, I'm a big advocate for writing out specific prayer requests within various categories - husband, kids, extended family, friends, church family, missionaries, nation (leaders), etc. As you can imagine, I was ecstatic when I came across these printable prayer cards that a fellow homeschool mom created as she was reading Miller's book. One can never have too much help in the area of praying more! I plan to make a set soon!

Please Pray for Joni Eareckson Tada
Joni has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She recently shared the following words.
"You have heard me often say that our afflictions come from the hand of our all-wise and sovereign God, and although cancer is something new, I am content to receive from God whatever He deems fit for me – even if it is from His left hand (better from His left hand, than no hand at all, right?!). Yes, it’s alarming, but rest assured that Ken and I are utterly convinced that God is going to use this to stretch our faith, brighten our hope, and strengthen our witness to others…"

Thank You For Praying!
After Haiti was hit by an earthquake on January 12, I wrote this post. Many of you prayed for the situation and our sponsored child. Well, all Praises to God, our sponsored child is alive! We received a letter from him the other day. He's doing well, but very sad because his cousin died in the earthquake. Even though that day has come and gone and most of us have gone on with our typical lives, Haiti is still in devastation and they need our prayers. Will you say a prayer for them right now?

Please Pray for Haiti and Our Sponsored Child

We've sponsored a child in Haiti through Compassion International for almost 4 years. His name is Kensly Pierre and his 12th birthday is tomorrow. An email we received today read as followed.
"The catastrophic earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday has resulted in unfathomable chaos and devastation for hundreds of thousands of children and families.
Compassion sponsors and donors serve more than 65,000 children in Haiti. At least a third of them live in the areas that were hardest hit.
Be assured that we are working to locate your child and determine his specific situation as quickly as possible. We will share this personal update with you as soon as we have that information."
Please pray for:
1) The rescue and recovery efforts (protection & guidance).
2) The people as they recovery from this devastation (comfort & healing).
3) That even through this tragedy God will be glorified and that many hearts will turn to Jesus.

10 days…10 messages…10 years!
Earlier this year, our hearts were burdened to not waste our upcoming wedding anniversary on ourselves, but to spend it on joyfully serving others for the sake of the gospel. Little did we know that the Lord would “open up a door” to travel to the Dominican Republic (DR) together to “proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)! Lord willing, we will be serving the precious people of the DR, June 9th through June 18th (10 days).
Lord enabling, Kempton will be preaching 10 messages at a National Conference to hundreds of souls (young and old) gathered together from around this spiritually-ripe country. This includes preaching at all of the Sunday services at one of the host churches.
We are also excited about spending the last 3-4 days of the trip enjoying God together and His goodness to us as we celebrate 10 years of marriage!
Please pray that:
* God’s chosen would be saved through the gospel. (2 Thess. 2:13-14)
* God’s church would be built up in love. (Eph. 4:11-16)
* God’s hand of favor, protection and blessing would be upon Christian, Carysse and Caryn’s parents as they so graciously care for their grandchildren. (What a gift!) (Ps. 5:12)
* God would enable us to humbly & joyfully “outdo others in showing honor”. (Rom. 12:10)
* God would guard our hearts and minds from worldliness, pride, various lusts and the schemes of the devil. (I John 2:15-17, Eph. 6:10-20)
* God would enrich our marriage to more gloriously display His gospel design. (Eph. 5:22-33)
* God would cause Isaiah 6 (theme text) to happen as Kempton preaches through the chapter!
Thanks! ~Kempton and Caryn
“I will show My greatness and My holiness and make Myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord!” (Ezekiel 38.23)
(I will try to give updates on my blog depending on if we have internet access or not.)

To Our Loved Ones in the Houston, TX area
Kempton & I are fervently praying for you right now. We read Psalm 65 this morning and was reminded of God's sovereignty over the seas and the waves. Hurricane Ike is no exception! May the Lord bless each of you with his supernatural peace during this time.
And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"
Matthew 8:26-27

Prayer Request

Christian is scheduled to have surgery on both eyes (due to glaucoma) on Monday, April 28. The doctor will do a thorough eye exam to see if surgery is even necessary before she proceeds. Please pray for the following areas.
1) Christian stays healthy for the procedure.
2) He possibly won't need surgery in both eyes.
3) Guidance for the doctors as they insert a stent in order to control his eye pressure.
3) There will be no complications, but a quick recovery.
4) If surgery is necessary, pray that he will have peace having to wear patches on his eyes for 24 hours.
5) This procedure will result in long-term improvements of his vision for God's glory.
Thank you so much! I'll keep you updated.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer.
I Peter 3:12a
